Marangu Route
The Coca-Cola Route
The only route with hut accommodation: sleep under a roof.
Overview
The oldest and most established route, and the only one with dormitory-style huts instead of tents. Its gradual incline and communal huts make it the most comfortable way up, and popular with those who prefer a roof over a tent. The shorter profile means acclimatisation matters, so we recommend the 6-day option.
Why climbers love it
- ▲ The only route with sleeping huts, not tents
- ▲ Gentlest, most gradual incline on the mountain
- ▲ Acclimatisation hike to Zebra Rocks and Mawenzi
- ▲ Same final summit path as the Rongai Route
